Sunday August 2nd we took 13 paddlers (now called the "Lucky 13") 7 1/2 miles down the Navasota River. We put in at Hwy. 6 above Navasota and took out about 5 hours later at Hwy. 105. It was hot & humid, overcast & breezy, so the weather was tolerable. Friends Phil & Sophie were big helps in leading the trip, with me bringing up the rear. The water was muddy after the rains a few days earlier, and we encountered a few class I rapids which were fun. We took our first break after rescuing Robin & Sharon from some rocky pilings that were a little tricky to get through. It was scenic, quiet and a very enjoyable trip. If you got too hot, 9 yr old Riley was there to cool you off with his watergun! The take-out was rough, using ropes and lots of muscles. (Ohh, my aching back!) We all had a great time, and thanks to Sharon for taking the wonderful pictures!
